- Aircraft details
- Registration A unique identifier of an aircraft, often called a tail number because of where it is printed on the aircraft.
- Mode-S Code A six digit alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies the aircraft's transponder
- Aircraft type The detailed name of the aircraft, including ICAO assigned type code. Use the ICAO type code to create aircraft filters.
- Aircraft serial number See the aircraft's unique manufacturer's serial number (MSN), which stays the same even when an aircraft's registration changes.
- Aircraft age Wondering if an aircraft is brand new or 20 years old? See the age of the aircraft you're tracking and when it first flew.
- Flight details
- Ground speed Speed relative to the ground.
- Position The location of the aircraft given in latitude and longitude.
- Track The direction of the aircraft
- Calibrated altitude Corrected Pressure Altitude Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL)
- Vertical speed See how quickly an aircraft is ascending or descending.
- Squawk code A four-digit code assigned to a flight by air traffic control to match the flight to its radar screens.
- GPS altitude The aircraft's altitude reported by GPS, based on an ellipsoid of the entire earth and not necessarily indicative of altitude above ground.
- True airspeed True airspeed is the airspeed of an aircraft corrected for position and instrument error and taking pressure and temperature into account.
- Wind See if a flight is flying with the wind or against it. View the wind speed and direction reported directly from the aircraft.
- Indicated airspeed Indicated airspeed is the speed of the aircraft through the air taken directly from airspeed indicator without any corrections for temperature or pressure.
- Temperature See the outside air temperature reported directly from the aircraft.
- FIR/UIR See which air traffic controllers are currently responsible for a flight thanks to worldwide Flight Information Region (FIR) and Upper Information Region (UIR) data.
- Mach A Mach number is the ratio of true airspeed to the speed of sound at the altitude of a given flight.
- Past flights
- Flight history Get info for past flight numbers or aircraft registrations including aircraft type, registration, origin, destination, scheduled and actual flight times. How far back you're able to go depends on your subscription level.
- Aircraft history Looking for historical aircraft information? See detailed information for past flight numbers or aircraft registrations, including origin, destination, scheduled and actual departure and arrival times
- Playback See what the airspace looked liked at a given time in the past. You can also do playback for an individual flight. How far back you're able to go depends on your subscription level.
- Global playback Use Global playback to see historical airspace on the map. See detailed flight information for a single flight or follow multiple flights with our Multi-view. How far back you're able to see depends on your subscription level.
- Flight playback See playback of a single flight with detailed flight and aircraft data. Easily jump to any portion of the flight or follow the flight from takeoff to landing.
- Aircraft on ground List of the aircraft that we have tracked landing at a particular airport. An aircraft will remain on the list until we can confirm that it has departed from the airport. How far back the list will go depends on your subscription level.
- Download CSV/KML files Manual download of CSV/KML files of past flights with flight data including position, speed and altitude. - Customization
- Saved filters Set a filter to narrow down what aircraft should be shown on the map, using callsign, airport, altitude, speed, aircraft type, and registration. The number of filters you are able to save depends on your subscription plan.
- Text labels Choose what information travels with the aircraft icons. Add identifiers like callsign, flight number or registration and include additional information like type & registration, altitude & speed or origin & destination. The number of text labels you are able to view depends on your subscription plan.
- Alerts
Let flights come to you. Create alerts for a flight number, registration, airline, or aircraft type and get notified when a flight meets your criteria.
The number of alerts you can create depends on your subscription level. The number indicates the maximum number of alerts you can have setup at the same time.
Alerts created on the web are sent via email. Alerts created in the mobile app arrive as push notifications.
- Bookmarks Create a bookmark to easily access a saved flight, aircraft, airport or map position. The number of available bookmarks depends on your subscription level.
- Custom Fleet Create and manage a custom fleet to easily track your aircraft. Add aircraft to your fleet by owner, registration, or Mode S address. Custom fleet settings are located in your Account settings.
- Weather Layers
- Volcanic eruption Volcanic eruptions can have a major impact on aviation (remember Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull?). See which volcanoes are active and the location of any ash clouds affecting flights on our live map.
- Current weather Sunny and warm in Madrid, raining and cold in San Francisco. See the current weather, including temperature and sky conditions, for over 3,000 airports worldwide overlaid on our live map.
- Cloud Global IR Satellite provides worldwide cloud cover displayed on the map, refreshed every 60 minutes.
- Total precipitation An overview of current global precipitation overlaid on our live map. The total precipitation layer is refreshed 12 times a day.
- Intense precipitation See the weather flights are avoiding overlaid on our live map. Global Radar provides worldwide areas of intense precipitation so you'll know how much of an impact it could have on flights. The intense precipitation layer is refreshed every 30 minutes.
- Winds See wind speed and direction on our live map in increments of 1,000 feet from 1,000 to 51,000 feet. Displayed in either wind barbs or a color gradient. The winds layer is refreshed 12 times a day.
- North American radar High-resolution North American Radar is a mosaic image of radars covering the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the southern portion of Canada. High-resolution North American Radar combines 1 km resolution with frequent updates for the best weather detail and timeliness.
- AIRMETs/SIGMETs AIRMETs/SIGMETs issued by authorities forecasting significant weather events that are potentially hazardous to flights, refreshed every 30 min. Click on an AIRMET/SIGMET to see the full text.
- Hi-res icing View high-resolution forecasts of icing severity up to 36 hours ahead. Icing severity is categorized as none, trace, light, moderate, or severe. Flight levels covered range from 6,000 to 30,000 ft. High-res icing is available with a Business plan only.
- Hi-res turbulence View high-resolution turbulence at various altitudes up to 36 hours ahead. Flight levels covered range from 10,000 to 45,000 ft. Turbulence potential is categorized as none, light, moderate or severe. High-res Turbulence Is available with a Business plan only.
- Australian radar Australian radar is a composite image of precipitation throughout Australia at 2 km resolution.
- High level significant weather Forecasted areas of high level significant weather, such as wind patterns and storm activity, available for up to a 24-hour period in six hour increments.
- Lightning Recorded lightning strikes shown on the map, updated every 15 minutes.
- Map Layers
- ATC boundaries See which air traffic controllers are currently responsible for a flight with worldwide Flight Information Region (FIR) and Upper Information Region (UIR) boundaries overlaid on map. The current ATC area for an individual flight is also shown in the flight information box for that flight.
- Oceanic tracks Over areas like the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, flights follow organized tracks to stay safely separated when outside contact with air traffic control. The tracks are updated twice daily to take wind and weather into account. View these tracks on our live map and see how flights follow them to safely navigate over open ocean.
- Aeronautical Charts To safely arrive at their destination and maintain separation from other flights, aircraft follow airways between navigational waypoints. See a flight’s route with our high and low altitude charts, plus a dedicated layer for navigational aids.

Common questions
How does the free trial work?
Simply sign up for a Silver, Gold or Business plan. You will immediately receive subscription benefits, but you will pay nothing for the first 7 days. Please note there is a limit of one free trial per account.
How often will I be charged?
Silver, Gold and Business subscribers may select either monthly or yearly billing. You may cancel your subscription at any time and your subscription will remain active for the duration of the period for which you have paid. The first charge will be processed at the end of your 7-day free trial.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We have several payment options available, including credit, debit cards and PayPal. The payment options available to you depend on the subscription plan type and billing country. You'll see a list of all the payment options available to you in the check-out process.
For Business plan subscriptions, an invoicing option is available.
Can I change plans or cancel any time?
Yes. You can upgrade to a plan with more features or cancel at any time. If you cancel your 7-day free trial of a Silver, Gold or Business subscription within the first week, you will pay nothing for that first week. You may cancel your subscription at any time and your subscription will remain active for the duration of the period for which you have paid.
How can I cancel my subscription?
Should you wish to cancel your subscription, please visit the billing page. In the billing section you will see a link to cancel your subscription—please click this link to cancel. Your subscription will be canceled at the end of the current billing cycle.
Why do I need to enter my payment information for the 7-day free trial?
We're asking for your payment information so that we can ensure you continued service once your free trial is over.
Where can I use my Flightradar24 subscription?
Your subscription works on web and mobile with the same log in credentials across all platforms. Track flights on the web or in our iOS and Android mobile apps.
